The course offers an introduction to camera techniques and editing software. Students are required to pass a certification test in the use of camera equipment and editing software used in the first semester. The course also includes an introduction to short film, where the students are prepared for Fictional Storytelling
In this course the student gets a basic introduction to filmmaking and the required equipment. With a focus on learning and understanding the basic levels of roles on a film production set, the student gains knowledge and understanding necessary to advance to the following courses.
The candidate:
- Has basic knowledge of camera, lighting and sound equipment
- Has basic knowledge of framing, composition, exposure, editing, sound recording and lighting
- Is aquainted with how a small production team works in an audiovisual production
- Is aquainted with the duties of the following roles: producer, production manager, director, script writer, cinematographer, editor, sound director and lighting director
The candidate:
- Can use production and postproduction equipment at a basic level
- Can use basic terminology for framing and composition
- Can use working methods to develop a cinematic expression
The candidate:
- Can plan and carry out a short audiovisual production by using basic cinematic principles and the use of production and post-production equipment
- Has elementary understanding of how to produce and make a short audiovisual production
In this course, the following teaching and learning methods can be applied, but are not limited to:
- Lecture: Educator-led presentations or activities providing knowledge, skills, or general competencies in the subject area.
- Group work: Collaborative activities where students work together to solve problems or complete tasks.
- Tutoring: One-on-one or small group sessions with an instructor for personalized guidance and support.
- Student presentations: Opportunities for students to demonstrate their understanding of course material by presenting to peers.
- Online lessons: Digital content delivered via an online learning platform.
- Guidance: Individualized advice and direction from instructors to support students in their learning journey.
- Workshops: Practical sessions focused on hands-on application of theoretical concepts or skills.
- Self-study: Independent study where students engage with course material on their own without any teacher support.
