Applied Forest Ecology is an introductory course that will introduce you to the foundational understanding of the ecological principles governing forest ecosystems and their practical applications in natural resource management and conservation. Topics covered include forest history, disturbance, succession, structure, productivity, nutrient cycling, and forest management.
Læringsutbytte
After successful completion of the course, the student will have the following knowledge, skills and general competence.
The candidate:
- has broad knowledge of forest ecosystems and the ecological processes in trees.
- has detailed knowledge of selected forest ecosystems and species in Norway.
- has knowledge of practical applications of forest ecology and management.
The candidate:
- can communicate in English orally and in writing about forest ecology.
- can search for and gather information from various sources to provide more insight into forest ecology and management.
The candidate:
- can contribute to professional specialisation for himself and his fellow students through collaborative learning and group work related to forestry ecology and management.
- knows a broad set of technical terms in English related to forest ecology and management.
