Learning Outcome
The student
- Have advanced knowledge about the terminology of privacy and data protection (k1)
- Be able to identify the risk of collecting personal information and using such data (k2)
- Have advanced understanding of the rules and principles for protecting privacy and personal information, particularly in EU (k3
- Have specialized knowledge of the regulation on data protection from EU (GDPR; General Data Protection Regulation) (k4)
- Have specialized knowledge of Norway`s obligation in the EEA-agreement (k5)
- Have specialized knowledge of the rules concerning transfer of data to other 90 / 155 countries (k6)
- Be able to discuss ethical problems arising from the use of personal information in both private and public sector (k7)
- Be able to explain and exemplify legal and ethical paradoxes in usage of big data in business analyitcs (k8)
The student can
- Be able to identify legal problems concerning privacy protection (f1)
- Be able to discuss and solve practical cases regarding the individual rights under the GDPR (f2)
- Be capable of discussing possible solutions to threats to individual privacy in private and public sector (f3)
- Be able to see the potential for technological development and discuss it based on regulations in privacy protection (f4)
- Be able to understand the ethical challenges of using personal information and big data analytics (f5)
- Be able to understand the necessary balance between the need of privacy and control over data in public and private sector (f6)
- Be able to recognize the ethical issues of Big data and data sharing as well as the relationship between data curators and data producers (f7)
The student can
- Question the use of personal information and methods in various businesses and organizations (g1)
- Propose changes in businesses and organizations to improve handling of data security (g2)
- Manage data within relevant regulations and desired ethical standards (g3)
- Students must pass three out of four mandatory course requirements to be allowed to take the exam.
- Attendance on at least 50% of the courses lectured teaching.
