Course content

Theories and different approaches to the basic concepts of health, care and quality of life. 

  • Health, care and quality of life related to social, cultural and political processes and to societal power relations. 

  • Health and social policy laws and ideological guidelines, and the importance of views on health, quality of life and care-related issues.

Knowledge

Candidates: 

  • have in-depth knowledge about the subject area and can assess different theories and perspectives on health, care and quality of life. 

  • can assess the importance of inter-scientific knowledge in the subject area of health, care and quality of life. 

  • can assess the appropriateness and application of methods and processes in research and development in the subject area of health, care and quality of life. 

Skills

Candidates: 

  • can formulate issues for research and development projects within the subject area of health, care and quality of life. 

  • can deal with and apply complex academic issues and challenge established knowledge within the subject area of health, care and quality of life.

Language of instruction: 

Teaching is mainly conducted in Scandinavian languages and English, depending on the native language of the lecturer. If there are participants who do not use Scandinavian languages, English is used as a course language. 

Required coursework

Student presentation during the seminar. There is a requirement of 80% attendance in order to take the exam.

Form of assessment

Home examination in the form of an individual essay (up to 3500 words).
