Once the student has passed the course, they will have achieved the following learning outcomes: 

Knowledge

The student:

  • has knowledge of storytelling
  • has knowledge of character development for animation
  • has knowledge of directing for animation
  • has knowledge of planning and executing an animation production
  • has knowledge of polishing high-quality animations
  • has broad knowledge of structuring and building their own portfolio (demo reel)
Skills

The student:

  • can give characters unique, individual personalities, making them authentic and diverse
  • can produce an animation portfolio (demo reel) to demonstrate the quality level of their animations
  • can make well-reflected choices in relation to acting, storytelling, cinematography, and body mechanics
  • can produce finished high-quality animation
  • can reflect on their own work and processes, developing their critical thinking
General competence

The student:

  • has insight into relevant professional and ethical issues and can contribute to a professional community
  • can plan and carry out an animation sequence over time, following guidelines
  • has insight into relevant industrial work processes and can contribute to a professional academic environment

Teaching and working methods

The course is structured as a combination of lectures, practical exercises, continuous submissions, self-study, and supervision. Throughout the course, students work individually on their demo reel.

Required coursework
  • 2-4 individual assignments
  • participation in teaching activities in accordance with the teaching plan

Compulsory requirements that have been passed are valid for only 12 months. Students who wish to take exams after 12 months must pass the compulsory work requirements again in the next regular implementation of the course.

Form of assessment
  • 1 individual portfolio assignment that counts for 15% of the final grade
  • 1 individual practical portfolio assignment that must be completed by Exhibition Week. The assignment counts for 85% of the final grade.
