  • Environmental psychology, ethics and philosophy
  • The Scandinavian model of relations to nature
  • The natural scientific basis: knowledge of species, life cycles, ecology and Norwegian habitats andthe energy concepts
  • Climate challenges locally and globally
  • Environmental challenges related to  water and soil management
  • Environmental challenges related to loss of biodiversity and natural habitats, fragmentation and landscape management
  • Conflicts of interest in Norway
  • Educational programs and actions for sustainable development

Upon completing this qualification, the student will have achieved the following learning outcomes, defined in terms of knowledge, skills and general competence:

Knowledge

The student

  • has knowledge of key elements of environmental philosophy and psychology
  • has knowledge of ecological systems, conditions and key species in Norwegian habitats
  • has knowledge of the importance of biodiversity and what characterises sustainable development
  • has knowledge of energy issues, pollution and climate challenges both in Norway and internationally
  • has an overview of the most important environmental projects in Norwegian Schools

  • can reflect on and discuss different perspectives and causes of environmental challenges and identify possible solutions to address them
  • can plan and reflect on and see the relevance of inquiry based environmental education in local habitats
