About the Course

This course introduces the fresh 2nd year students to the systems and workings of the large studio on campus. The course is common to the Sound Engineering and Composition specialisations. Students lay an important foundation by being able to use the studio for simpler tasks and understand routing and technical equipment. It will enable them to be self-sufficient in recording and exporting projects under normal operations.

The students will practise collaboration with, and supporting other roles in the studio. They will experience the studio environment and culture, and help record the first-year students introductionary project. They will be exposed to routines and simple troubleshooting of studio equipment and the Mac OS. Sound engineering students will start using Pro Tools as their main DAW of the year.
