In this course the student will prepare a multimedial portfolio consisting of their own work, profiling themselves as music and sound producers.
With lectures about the music business, job opportunities and how to navigate in the industry, the students will be provided with an opportunity to explore the context of their subject area with reference to the industry. They will reflect on how to best align themselves with the expectations of the sound and music production industries, and how to market their individual talent and skills.
What roles do they see themselves in? What are their areas of personal and professional capability and potential for development?
This course will require students to understand and demonstrate a practical knowledge of media publishing techniques suitable for producing portfolio media.
The candidate:
- Has knowledge of CV, portfolio and profiling opportunities for artists and other audio professionals
- Has insight into career opportunities in sound and music production
- Understands professionalism and professional ethics
- How to appear attractive and professional to clients
- Has insight into copyright and copyright management
- Has introductory knowledge of running an individual business or starting a business
- Understands the place of sound and music production in music and the media landscape
The candidate:
- masters relevant tools, techniques and styles for presenting themselves through a basic multi medial portfolio

- Can communicate their artistic and professional self through profile, image and multimedia techniques adapted to different media
In this course, the following teaching and learning methods can be applied, but are not limited to:
- Lecture: Educator-led presentations or activities providing knowledge, skills, or general competencies in the subject area.
- Group work: Collaborative activities where students work together to solve problems or complete tasks.
- Tutoring: One-on-one or small group sessions with an instructor for personalized guidance and support.
- Student presentations: Opportunities for students to demonstrate their understanding of course material by presenting to peers.
- Online lessons: Digital content delivered via an online learning platform.
- Guidance: Individualized advice and direction from instructors to support students in their learning journey.
- Workshops: Practical sessions focused on hands-on application of theoretical concepts or skills.
- Self-study: Independent study where students engage with course material on their own without any teacher support.
Teaching materials, reading lists, and essential resources will be shared in the learning platform and software user manuals where applicable.
