In this course students learn some of the properties of relevant media genres. We focus on voice recording techniques in different genres, post production basics, DAW skills. We work practically on media projects to gain skills and experience in post-production work.
Traditional and new media, whether pure audio media or sound for picture, represent work opportunities and career paths for those educated in sound and music production. As a Sound- and music production student, it is important to explore career opportunities, not only in individualistic artistic directions, but in aspects of the trade that are particularly sought after in the job marketplace.
The technical training and experience gained while working on these learning activities also contributes to cross-disciplinary technical and soft social skills
The candidate:
- has basic knowledge of sound design, voice recording and sound post production for media
- has introductory knowledge to the audio side of media genres (such as audiobook, podcast, audio drama, video, radio, TV, film)
- has basic knowledge of music use and music for media
- understands the basics of teamwork and roles in media sound processes
- has basic insight into delivery standards and work processes in some relevant types of media sound
The candidate:
- can apply knowledge of sound production for different media genres
- can function in different roles of a media sound production team
The candidate:
- can carry out basic audio work based on standards and expectations in different media genres
- can build relations with their peers across media sound disciplines
In this course, the following teaching and learning methods can be applied, but are not limited to:
- Lecture: Educator-led presentations or activities providing knowledge, skills, or general competencies in the subject area.
- Group work: Collaborative activities where students work together to solve problems or complete tasks.
- Tutoring: One-on-one or small group sessions with an instructor for personalized guidance and support.
- Student presentations: Opportunities for students to demonstrate their understanding of course material by presenting to peers.
- Online lessons: Digital content delivered via an online learning platform.
- Guidance: Individualized advice and direction from instructors to support students in their learning journey.
- Workshops: Practical sessions focused on hands-on application of theoretical concepts or skills.
- Self-study: Independent study where students engage with course material on their own without any teacher support.
Teaching materials, reading lists, and essential resources will be shared in the learning platform and software user manuals where applicable.
