This is the candidate's most important project throughout the two academic years. The assignment is extensive and the finished product should reflect the candidate's creative skills, general design competence, visual and technical skills. The project is also designed to be an interdisciplinary collaboration with other students. The candidates, in collaboration with their tutor, will define their own task. There may be opportunities to include practical projects linked to real clients or companies. The project can also be angled towards the individual's area of interest, as long as this forms part of and meets the general guidelines of the subjects covered in the course. The finished product should be of such high quality that it can be used as a portfolio for a job application or as a proposal for the actual production of the project.
The Candidate...
- can assess his/her own work in relation to the universal rules and guidelines for graphic design.
- can update his/her vocational knowledge of graphic design and visual communication obtained through the subjects in the first semester.
- has insight into his/her own development opportunities in the planning and execution of graphic solutions for both print and screen media.
The Candidate...
- can explain his/her academic choices and the use of tools, methods and techniques in planning, developing, testing and designing printed and screen-based solutions, both visually and technically.
- can explain the use of regulations and guidelines to ensure universal uniformity of digital solutions.
- can reflect on his/her own creative and technical skills as a graphic designer and adjust it with guidance from a tutor or from user feedback.
- can find and refer to information related to the project work and assess the relevance of the project.
The Candidate...
- can plan and carry out the development of graphic solutions individually or as part of a group and in line with universal ethical requirements and guidelines, and according to the needs of the target group or a given customer assignment.
- can exchange views with fellow students, teachers and industry professionals and participate in discussions on developing good practices in graphic design and visual communication.
- can contribute to the development of good cooperation between professional disciplines and interdisciplinary group collaboration.
In this course, the following teaching and learning methods can be applied, but are not limited to:
- Lecture: Educator-led presentations or activities providing knowledge, skills, or general competencies in the subject area.
- Group work: Collaborative activities where students work together to solve problems or complete tasks.
- Tutoring: One-on-one or small group sessions with an instructor for personalized guidance and support.
- Student presentations: Opportunities for students to demonstrate their understanding of course material by presenting to peers.
- Online lessons: Digital content delivered via an online learning platform.
- Guidance: Individualized advice and direction from instructors to support students in their learning journey.
- Workshops: Practical sessions focused on hands-on application of theoretical concepts or skills.
- Self-study: Independent study where students engage with course material on their own without any teacher support.
Teaching materials, reading lists, and essential resources will be shared in the learning platform and software user manuals where applicable.
