About the Course

The course provides deeper knowledge of content creation and relevant worklows and skills with sculpting for organic meshes. Candidates are provided skills to create organic 3D assets by using tools and techniques from previous courses in conjunction with base meshes, remeshing and polypainting. The course also provides skills in automatic retopology, while focusing on edgeflows for good deformation with regards to animation and posing. The course also provides knowledge of visual problem solving, the principles and design theories of movement, rhythm and tone, in addition to insight into principles of anatomy.

Course Relevance
The course aims to teach iterative workflows and rapid organic mesh content creation. The ability to work quickly and get an anatomically believable 3D sketch to a presentable state as fast as possible is a highly regarded skill in the current industry.  During the course, candidates learn to use various tools and techniques to accelerate the steps in a production pipeline to create organic 3D content rapidly.

Course Learning Outcomes
Learning outcomes - Knowledge

The candidate:

  • has knowledge of photobashing techniques in the design of concepts
  • has knowledge of concepts and tools that are used in a production of organic 3D assets
  • can assess his/her own polygonal edgeflow in relation to relevant principles of retopology
  • can assess his/her own organic 3D assets in relation to relevant principles of visual problem solving and anatomy
Learning outcomes - Skills

The Candidate…

  • masters relevant tools and techniques for creating organic 3D assets
  • can explain his/her choice of design and production for organic 3D assets according to specification
  • can reflect over his/her own work and visual design and adjust it under supervision
  • can find and refer to information and material and assess its relevance to organic 3D content creation
General Competence

The Candidate…

  • can plan and carry out organic 3D content creation in accordance with efficiency and quality requirements
  • can exchange points of view and constructive criticism with peers about design and results of his/her own organic 3D assets
