About the Course

This course develops foundational competencies in media sound and collaborative production. Students explore the audio aspects of key media genres (e.g., audiobook, podcast, audio drama, video, radio, TV, film) with a focus on voice recording and post-production, while concurrently delivering an ambitious group production portfolio that combines a music project with a smaller media project. The course emphasizes teamwork, professional roles, delivery workflows and standards, and crossdisciplinary soft skills relevant to industry practice.

Course Learning Outcomes
Knowledge

The candidate:
•    has basic knowledge of sound design, voice recording and sound post production for media
•    has introductory knowledge to the audio side of media genres (such as audiobook, podcast, audio drama, video, radio, TV, film)
•    has basic knowledge of music use and music for media
•    understands the basics of teamwork and roles in media sound processes
•    has basic insight into delivery standards and work processes in some relevant types of media sound

Skills

The candidate:

  • Can apply production knowledge to create and deliver basic music and/or media content in a collaborative setting
  • can function in different roles of a media sound production team
  • Can plan and execute a simple creative production process from idea to finished product, using relevant software and tools
General Competence

The candidate:

  • can carry out basic audio work based on standards and expectations in different media genres
  • can build relations with their peers across media sound disciplines
