The course introduces central ideation and planning concepts, processes and tools relevant for the field of UX Design. Candidates are provided knowledge and skills to plan, facilitate, and carry out user experience ideation and planning based on the needs of selected audiences or project briefs. The course presents methods and tools to create personas, scenarios, and role-plays. Candidates are also trained in relevant presentation techniques. The course builds on competence from Research and Insights.
Course Relevance
The course aims to enable candidates to process the user research results and findings to come up with a variety of possible solutions to problems. Through the different practical ideation methods, candidates will be trained to consider and discuss different ways to find the best solution for user needs. The course is well situated for teamwork and collaboration, so candidates will be encouraged to carry out ideation and planning workshops in smaller teams together with fellow students.

- can study user research findings and identify issues based on the insights to plan and organise further ideation and planning processes

- has developed an ethical attitude in relation to facilitating UX workshops
- can carry out user experience ideation and planning based on the needs of selected user target group
- can build relations with his/her peers, workshop participants and collaborate with other project members
- can plan and carry out usability testing alone or as part of a group
- can develop scenarios and personas for use in ideation processes
In this course, the following teaching and learning methods can be applied, but are not limited to:
- Lecture: Educator-led presentations or activities providing knowledge, skills, or general competencies in the subject area.
- Group work: Collaborative activities where students work together to solve problems or complete tasks.
- Tutoring: One-on-one or small group sessions with an instructor for personalized guidance and support.
- Student presentations: Opportunities for students to demonstrate their understanding of course material by presenting to peers.
- Online lessons: Digital content delivered via an online learning platform.
- Guidance: Individualized advice and direction from instructors to support students in their learning journey.
- Workshops: Practical sessions focused on hands-on application of theoretical concepts or skills.
- Self-study: Independent study where students engage with course material on their own without any teacher support.
Teaching materials, reading lists, and essential resources will be shared in the learning platform and software user manuals where applicable.
