In this course, the student will learn about film history and discuss contemporary audiovisual production in the context of the evolution of film.
The course provides an overview of historical development of film as an audiovisual medium as well as more detailed knowledge of individual periods and individual works.
The candidate:
- has knowledge of film seen as a tool for historical events.
- is familiar with filmmaking during different historical periods
- has insight into his/her opportunities for development in the field of film through self-study
The candidate:
- can explain a specific work in a film historical context, discuss form, structure and style of such a film.
- can find related articles, journals and information in order to presenting a film within a historical period.
The candidate:
- can explore an area or theme in film history through self-study
- can exchange point of view with others about a given historical development, and can discuss contemporary film production in relation to such historical phenomena
In this course, the following teaching and learning methods can be applied, but are not limited to:
- Lecture: Educator-led presentations or activities providing knowledge, skills, or general competencies in the subject area.
- Group work: Collaborative activities where students work together to solve problems or complete tasks.
- Tutoring: One-on-one or small group sessions with an instructor for personalized guidance and support.
- Student presentations: Opportunities for students to demonstrate their understanding of course material by presenting to peers.
- Online lessons: Digital content delivered via an online learning platform.
- Guidance: Individualized advice and direction from instructors to support students in their learning journey.
- Workshops: Practical sessions focused on hands-on application of theoretical concepts or skills.
- Self-study: Independent study where students engage with course material on their own without any teacher support.
Teaching materials, reading lists, and essential resources will be shared in the learning platform and software user manuals where applicable.
