About the Course

The students will after this course gain a basic theoretical and practical understanding of a short film production and explore the format by producing a short fiction film in groups. The course introduces sound design and film score, in collaboration with students from Sound and Music Production (SMP). The student is also introduced to the tasks for the different key roles, and cooperation and structure of a film team in the different phases of a film production. 

With the knowledge and skills developed in this course the student will be prepared to continue with the more advanced courses in the following semesters. They get a practical training and understanding of how it is to be a part of a professional film production team.

Knowledge

The candidate: 

  • Has knowledge of basic concepts, processes and tools that are used in an audiovisual production 
  • Has knowledge of how a production team, consisting of specific key roles, functions in an audiovisual production 
  • Has basic knowledge on how a film project is pitched to an audience 
Skills

The candidate

  • Can use basic production and post-production equipment in an independent, functional manner 
  • Can apply professional knowledge of idea development, screenwriting, and character development to write a film script 
  • Can create and use basic production documents for an audiovisual production 
  • Can develop knowledge through self-study and using available resources to gain knowledge about the film industry and the art of film making. 
  • Can work on an audiovisual production team consisting of specific key roles. 
  • Can pitch and present an audiovisual idea to an audience 
General Competence

The candidate

  • Can carry out work in an independent, functional manner, in a audiovisual production team. 
  • Can create a short fiction film as part of a team.
