About the Course

The students are introduced to the different expressions of avant-garde film and the screening venues. The avant-garde film is put into historical and cultural context. In the course, the students will produce an individual, experimental film where they need to work independently and take full responsibility for their own film production and all its key roles. In the course, the students are encouraged to explore their own artistic expression.

With the understanding of Avant-garde filmmaking the student gains knowledge on how to think and create art independently. This gives a basic understanding of creativity and how to develop and present ideas for later projects in the program. The student also gains knowledge about the historical development of filmmaking.
