Recommended prerequisites: One year or 30 ECTS credits of studies within the field of pedagogics, Social Sciences etc.
This course invites the students to reflect more in depth on how the interplay between the individual and their surroundings influence participation, inclusion and justice. Students will practice theis through independent writing where they critically examine the various facets and implications of disability. This is done under supervision and according to guidelines.
Learning Outcome
Students who complete the course will achieve the following learning outcomes:
The student
• has an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the topic they have chosen as a specialisation
• has knowledge about the relationship between problem statement, methodological approach, research design and analysis
• has knowledge about scientific and academic reasoning, explanations, conclusions, and interpretations
• has knowledge about criterion for good research, including source critique and research ethics
• has knowledge about formal regulations on independently writing an academic text
The student
• is able to present and discuss the chosen topic both in writing and orally
• is able to critically examine the various facets and implications of disability in relationship to participation, inclusion and justice
• is able to develop researchable problem statements and research designs
• be able to consider and relate analytically and critically to methods and reasoning in their own and other’s empirical and theoretical materials
• be able to utilize special educational terminology in writing as well as in oral presentation
The student
• can develop their critical thinking and assessment of, as well as a deeper understanding of scientific thinking and practice
• write a thesis independently according to guidelines
• display an independent and critical approach to the knowledge base of special educational practice and the role that research in the field of special education plays in society

The student will be evaluated on a graden scale from A to F, where A is the best and E is the lowest passing grade.
