Course content

  • Different understandings of the user concept and the concept of user participation, and guidelines for professional activities. 

  • The concept of interdisciplinary collaboration. 

  • Political and organisational guidelines, power, communication, co-determination and democracy. 

  • Participation related to different user groups and participation from a life cycle perspective. 

  • Challenges and opportunities related to user participation and interdisciplinary collaboration across professions, services and users. 

Learning Outcome

Knowledge

Candidates: 

  • have in-depth knowledge within the subject area, and can assess different theories and perspectives related to user participation and interdisciplinary collaboration.  

  • can assess the importance of inter-scientific approaches within the subject area and how they can help solve complex challenges. 

  • can assess appropriate methods and processes in research and development in the field. 

  • can assess the importance of experience-based knowledge and relate it to various established scientific theories. 

Skills

Candidates: 

  • can formulate issues for research and development work within the subject area of interdisciplinary collaboration and user participation. 

  • can deal with complex academic issues and challenge established knowledge about interdisciplinary work and user participation.

Language of instruction: 

Teaching is mainly conducted in Scandinavian languages and English, depending on the native language of the lecturer. If there are participants who do not use Scandinavian languages, English is used as a course language. 

Required coursework

There is a requirement of 80% attendance in order to take the exam.

Form of assessment

Home examination in the form of an individual essay (scope 3500 words).
