About the Course

In Digital Product Design, students are introduced to key UX and UI principles from a graphic design perspective, including grids, navigation structures and basic responsiveness. They learn how user-centred design, empathy, accessibility and inclusivity shape digital interfaces, and work with wireframing and prototyping methods for mobile and other digital products. Students explore how design systems support consistency, and how branding and visual identity can be integrated into digital interfaces through typography, colour and other visual elements.

Using relevant digital tools, students develop interface layouts and interactive prototypes based on given briefs, and use components and style rules consistently when designing screens and flows. They search for and use information about accessibility requirements, user needs, UX principles and UI patterns to support their design decisions. Throughout the course, students study existing digital interfaces and prototypes, identify issues such as unclear navigation or weak hierarchy, and suggest measures to improve the user experience. Ethical principles related to accessibility, inclusivity and responsible design choices are integrated into project work, collaboration and feedback sessions, while students document and communicate their process through key design decisions, iterations and improvements.

Learning Activities

Digital Learning Resources
The learning management system (LMS) is the primary learning platform where students access most of their course materials. The content is presented in various formats, such as text, images, models, videos or podcasts. Each course follows a progression plan, designed to lead students through weekly modules at their own pace. Exercises and assignments (individual or in groups) are embedded throughout the courses to support continuous practice and assessment of the learning outcomes.

Campus Resources
In addition to the digital learning resources, campus students participate in physical learning activities led by teachers as part of the overall delivery.

Guidance
Guidance and feedback from teachers support students' learning journeys, and may be provided synchronously or asynchronously, individually or in groups, via text, video or in-person feedback.

Teaching materials, reading lists, and essential resources will be shared in the learning platform and software user manuals where applicable.
