About the Course

The programme concludes with the exam project that demonstrates the combined competence candidates have acquired throughout both academic years. The candidate is responsible for planning, execution, documentation, and delivery of the project. The course builds on competence from all previous courses, and the aim is for the candidates to make independent, well-reasoned choices and deliver a complete and professionally executed product within defined deadlines and quality requirements. The project assesses the candidate’s ability to combine technical and organisational skills, using relevant tools, methods, and professional communication to achieve a high-quality outcome.

Course Learning Outcomes
Knowledge

The candidate:
•    has knowledge of project management processes and methods that are used to plan, coordinate, and execute projects.
•    can assess their own project data and documentation in relation to project specifications, industry regulations, and standards.
•    has insight into mechanical design, materials, and manufacturing, and can apply appropriate methods and tools holistically according to the project scope.

Skills

The candidate:
•    can analyse and justify design and manufacturing choices based on functionality, manufacturability, material choice and sustainability considerations.
•    can reflect on their own technical execution of CAD data and manufacturing process for developing design proposals.
•    can find information about relevant regulations and refer to applicable standards within the mechanical engineering industry.

General Competence

The candidate:
•    can plan and carry out a project from conception to a finished product with technical documentation ready for manufacturing in accordance with ethical requirements and principles. 
•    can contribute to reliable work processes by understanding how design and documentation relate to manufacturing.

Learning Activities

Digital Learning Resources
The learning management system (LMS) is the primary learning platform where students access most of their course materials. The content is presented in various formats, such as text, images, models, videos or podcasts. Each course follows a progression plan, designed to lead students through weekly modules at their own pace. Exercises and assignments (individual or in groups) are embedded throughout the courses to support continuous practice and assessment of the learning outcomes.

Campus Resources
In addition to the digital learning resources, campus students participate in physical learning activities led by teachers as part of the overall delivery.

Guidance
Guidance and feedback from teachers support students' learning journeys, and may be provided synchronously or asynchronously, individually or in groups, via text, video or in-person feedback.
