The students will after this course gain a basic theoretical and practical understanding of film production. The student will explore the short film format by producing a short fiction film in groups. The course introduces sound design and film score, in collaboration with students from Sound and Music Production (SMP). The student is also introduced to the tasks for the different key roles, and cooperation and structure of a film team in the different phases of a film production.
With the knowledge and skills developed in this course the student will be prepared to continue with the more advanced courses in the following semesters. They get a practical training and understanding of how it is to be a part of a professional film production team.
The candidate:
- has knowledge of basic concepts, processes and tools that are used in an audiovisual production
- has knowledge of how a production team, consisting of specific key roles, functions in an audiovisual production
- has basic knowledge on how a film project is pitched to an audience
The candidate:
- can apply basic production and post-production equipment in an independent, functional manner
- can apply professional knowledge of idea development, screenwriting, and character development to write a film script
- can apply basic production documents for an audiovisual production
- can find information through self-study and using available resources to gain knowledge about the film industry and the art of film making
- masters a specific key role on an audiovisual production team.
- can apply piching methods and present an audiovisual idea to an audience
The candidate:
- can carry out work in an independent, functional manner, in an audiovisual production team
- can carry out work on a short fiction film as part of a team
In this course, the following teaching and learning methods can be applied, but are not limited to:
- Lecture: Educator-led presentations or activities providing knowledge, skills, or general competencies in the subject area.
- Group work: Collaborative activities where students work together to solve problems or complete tasks.
- Tutoring: One-on-one or small group sessions with an instructor for personalized guidance and support.
- Student presentations: Opportunities for students to demonstrate their understanding of course material by presenting to peers.
- Online lessons: Digital content delivered via an online learning platform.
- Guidance: Individualized advice and direction from instructors to support students in their learning journey.
- Workshops: Practical sessions focused on hands-on application of theoretical concepts or skills.
- Self-study: Independent study where students engage with course material on their own without any teacher support.
Teaching materials, reading lists, and essential resources will be shared in the learning platform and software user manuals where applicable.
