Learning Outcome
A candidate who has completed his or her qualification should have the following learning outcomes defined in terms of knowledge, skills and general competence:

- has basic knowledge about the structure of the Norwegian language
- has basic knowledge about Norwegian society
The student
- can understand spoken Norwegian in simple, everyday contexts
- can speak some Norwegian, with an functional pronunciation
- can understand simple written texts in Norwegian
- can write simple texts about her/himself and about topics that arise during the course
The student
- can participate in simple conversations in spoken Norwegian
- can understand and communicate simple messages in written Norwegian

- 3-hour individual written examination (50 percent of the final grade)
- 15-minute oral examination in pairs (50 percent of the final grade)
The exams are in Norwegian.
The exams are graded on a scale from A to F. A is the highest pass grade and E is the lowest pass grade . A final grade grade is awarded at the end of the completed course, based on the grades from the written and oral exams. Both exams must be passed in order to pass the course.
