Course content

The course gives a theoretical and practical introduction to event management. It aims to provide a broad understanding of how events and event management can be understood. The students learn about different events, focusing mainly on sporting and cultural events within a tourism context. The students learn about the significance and value of events in the experience economy and the theoretical tools that event planners can apply and orchestrate to provide participants with what are termed as memorable experiences. An essential aspect of the course is understanding the close reciprocity connection between events and the destination. The course also examines the potential positive and negative impacts of events.
